Why is The Synchronize Study important?

“Overweight” and “obesity” are complex, chronic health conditions that can be caused by several factors, such as genetics (passed on from one generation to the next), environment, hormones, or other medical conditions. While nutrition and physical activity has been proven to help many in managing their weight, for some, more help may be needed. The SYNCHRONIZE studies will help doctors understand if a new treatment to help with weight loss is safe and effective among different groups of people.

Why is this study important?

Managing asthma is a big challenge for patients. This is why it’s important for people to take an active role in understanding and treating their asthma.

Asthma impacts approximately 25 million in the United States.1

Frequently asked questions

What is the purpose of this study?
This study will give people with asthma access to personalized educational materials to help them better understand asthma. We want to find out if knowing more about asthma can lead to better conversations with doctors and control of symptoms.
How will my participation help?
You’ll help us learn if personalized educational information can aid discussions with your doctor and improve the management of your asthma symptoms. Participating in this study could help others struggling with their asthma management by potentially paving the way to better symptom control.
What’s the difference between an interventional and an observational study?
Clinical research looks at people, medicines, and medical devices. The goal is to learn more about health conditions so doctors can better treat and prevent them. There are two types of clinical research studies: interventional studies and observational.  Interventional studies test treatments, whereas observational studies watch people over time without giving any treatments.

This is an observational study that will involve surveys and educational materials. You will not be given an investigational medicine during participation and will not need to change your current asthma treatment plan to take part.
Can I stop participating in the study?
Yes. Taking part in a study is always your choice. You can change your mind or stop taking part at any time, for any reason.
How is privacy protected?
All participant data will be kept confidential and used only for research purposes. We follow strict privacy and security guidelines.
Will I be compensated?
If you choose to enroll in the study, you may be compensated up to $30.
